I guess you could call this a virtual band. This video clip is by a guy called Clipbandit he found a singer, bass player, lead guitarist and drummer on youtube and had them play a song on video. He then put the songs together… just watch the video.

Just picked up my copy of OS X 10.5 and will be installing a little later. My local Apple Store was packed but they had plenty of employees and handled the crowd very well.
As I was checking the net for Leopard launch I saw the photo below from Apple Tokyo.

Looks like OS X 10.5 is showing up early for some. The DVD comes in a smaller package that you may want to keep around or even display. It’s seems that the package has a cool 3D X on it that floats. Smaller package for the green crowd and cool logo also means less people tossing the box in the trash.

For the last few months I’ve been going back-n-froth about buying a new acoustic guitar. I have a beautiful Alvarez PF90SC that sound bright a with a sweet tone especially when finger-picking. The problem it is a quiet guitar with a small body that gets boxy sounding when flat picked hard.
My search was for a full sounding warm guitar with booming lows and sparkling mids and doesn’t loose focus when playing loud. Oh yea, and I didn’t want to pay more than $800, go ahead and laugh I know I don’t want much.
Well my search took me to six music stores playing Alvarez, Martin, Taylor, Ibanez, Yamaha, Dean, Ovation just to name a few. My search ended at the first place I started at Daddy’s Junky Music, and my choice is the Seagull Performer. The Seagull is hand made in Canada and has a cedar top with wild cherry sides and back and produces the sweetest sounding mids and highs with a big warm bass. I had to order one because they only had one of these in the store and someone put it on layaway. But mine will be in my hands within a week, I’ll post some mp3 of it when I get it.. can’t wait.

Apple has posted a decent video tour of 10.5. It runs through some of the cool new features in Leopard. I know a lot of the Mac bloggers are saying that 10.5 is not a major update and that it’s more of a under the hood update, adding functions that will be more apparent in the future as software is written for 10.5. Well this may be true but I think the improvements for the end user are numerous and even breakthrough.
Under the hood Apple has added some cool features like the new Core Animation engine. This will allow software to access the built in powerful animation and display beautiful graphic with minimal code and very little I/O with the CPU.
Also Apple knows that with it’s new popularity security will become a issue and rather then waiting for attacks and trying to fix them they are putting some early roadblocks up. A few things they are doing is sand-boxing. This is putting applications that could be compromised in a virtual environment where anything outside the sandbox does not directly see the inside of the sandbox. Also they are going to implement Digital Signing of software written for tha Mac, this will mean eventually apps will not install unless the developer sign the software and is certified by Apple.

Friday 10/26 is the official day that Mac OS X 10.5 hits the shelfs. And according to to this page we will see 300 new features. Now I’m guessing very few will be ground breaking but a lot of little things add up to one big thing.
I took quick look at the list and a few things made me say “cool”. One of the small things I like was dock syncing this will mean both my Mac’s can have the same dock preferences and icons without me doing it manually “cool”. Also the backdrops in iChat and Photo booth this is a Green screen effect with support pictures and movies with no Green screen “cool”. Dashboards web clips lets you make a widget out of anything on the net “cool”. Take a look yourself and I’m sure you’ll say “cool” also.

This made me laugh, I don’t usually post things that are off color but this is funny.
